A Great Plastic Pipes XXII Event in Warsaw
As a member of the Plastic Pipes Conference Association (PPCA) the PE100+ Association helped organize and took part in the 22nd Plastic Pipes conference that was held in Warsaw, Poland between 15 and 17 September.
The plastic pipes conferences are held every two years and are the leading international technical event for the plastic pipes industry. It is one of the few events that still requires speakers to submit a technical paper in addition to their presentation. This year’s event was attended by 370 participants from 36 countries, which represented 193 companies from around the world. They attended almost 100 technical presentations and visited a small exhibition that comprised 31 exhibitors.
In addition to helping organize the event, the association gave two technical presentations. Andrew Wedgner presented a paper entitled 25 Years of Collaborative Efforts to Support the PE100 Pipe Industry which focused on how the association and KIWA have organised the round robin testing of samples in order to advise the ISO working groups on how the standards could be improved to improve the consistency of testing. Dr. Süleyman Deveci, the head of the PE100+ technical committee explained how the PE100 industry can now confidently claim that good quality PE100 pipe systems should have an operational life of at least 100 years in his presentation The 100-year Lifetime of PE100 and PE100-RC Pipes.
The award for the best PE100 related presentation was presented to Pongpol Ekabutr on behalf of SCGC, Thailand. His paper on Innovative HDPE Pipes with Superior Abrasion and Crack Resistance for Mining Applications explained how the new grades’ very high molecular weight distribution significantly improves the abrasion resistance of pipes carrying mining slurries.
At the end of the event Zoran Davidovski, The Chairman, announced that in 2026 there will be spin off conferences in Saudi Arabia, South Africa and China, followed by PPXXIII, which will be held in Houston, USA on 27-29 September 2027.
