Update on "PE100+ Association" position letter on Accelerated Notched Pipe Test
The PE100+ Association has updated its position on the Accelerated Notched Pipe Test (ANPT) according to ISO 13479.
This
test is used to evaluate resistance to slow crack growth (SCG). Regarding new
PE-100-RC materials, the latest standard includes a surfactant solution. However,
the nonyl-phenol ethoxylate (NPE) based surfactant, Arkopal® N100, is banned in
Europe due to environmental concerns. PE100+ is assessing an alternative,
Lauramine oxide (Dehyton® PL), and has completed a Round Robin test in 2025.
Recommendations for certification regarding
PE 100-RC materials will be made by the end of 2026, with existing reports and
alternative tests accepted until then. Necessary feedback will be provided for
future standard proposals.
