THE 100-YEAR LIFETIME OF PE100/PE100-RC PIPES – AN INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION'S PERSPECTIVE
Experts from PE100+ Association have brough together decades of scientific research and field experience, demonstrating that PE100 and PE100-RC polyethylene pressure pipes can reliably achieve a service lifetime of 100 years or more.
The authors (Suleyman Deveci, Norbert Jansen, and David
Chrystie-Lowe) also proposed the adoption of the Categorized Required Strength
(CRS), as an alternative to Minimum Required Strength (MRS), enabling engineers
and asset owners to specify and design corrosion and leak free PE pipelines for
a 100-year lifetime, further strengthening the case for long-term, sustainable
infrastructure solutions, supporting UN Sustainable Development Goal 6 - Ensure
availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.
