High Temperatures on PE Pipes for Water Supply Pressure Verification [PE]

Plastic Pipes Conference Association # 2012 Barcelona

Chen Zenggui

For PE pipes for water supply installed in the summer, the pipeline’s temperature under the sun exposure can influence the properties of the pipe. If you carry out the pressure tests directly, it can result in damage to the pipeline. So we conducted a detailed analysis and research on the influence of exposure to the sun on pipe properties. We also considered the effect of surface scratches that can be caused during transportation and handling on the pressure resistance of the pipe. The results show that the high temperature is an important factor about effecting on the PE pipes for water supply’s pressure capacity. Therefore when the pressure test is carried it we must follow the procedures of the national construction specification “Buried polyethylene water pipeline engineering technical regulations” for installation and acceptance, to ensure that quality polyethylene water supply pipe and project acceptance will be successfully passed.
