Liquid Crystal Polymer in the Manufacture of Plastic Pipes

This article is the impact study on general plastic pipe performance when using Liquid Crystal Polymer (hereinafter LCP) and LCP alloy, the soaking extrusion in-situ composite technique and the coat-molding technique for plastic pipe extrusion. It turns out that the high barrier property of TLCP can help us manufacture 2-layer Oxygen barrier plastic pipe without the adhesive layer or waterproof anti-scratch layer when we use TLCP/TP alloy as barrier material. Taking advantage of the enhancement and noninflammability of TLCP and the soaking extrusion in-situ composite technique, we can replace the coal mine PE pipe with TLCP/TP alloy whose performance is far more than the standard requirements. The oil well pumping pipe can be made from TLCP/TPU alloy based on the high heat resistance of TLCP whose wear resistance, corrosion resistance are no less than UHMWPE pipe or PEX pipe. The heat resistance of this oil well pumping pipe can reach to approx. 250℃ and it can be applied to approx. 8000-meter deep oil well. Since TLCP possesses lots of excellent performances such as high strength and modulus, good heat resistance, low creep and thermal conductivity, small coefficient of linear expansion, we can use coat-molding technique to change the orientation of plastic macromolecules from axial direction to circumferential direction to manufacture low pressure steam pipes, crude oil gathering pipeline and etc. And the circumferential strength of these pipes is no less than their axial strength.
