To estimate the long-term performance of polyethylene pipe, molecular structure of polyethylene resin were analyzed and the long-term performance test were done. By linking the molecular structure of the resin to the results of long-term performance tests such as tensile creep tests and tensile fatigue tests, it estimates what kind of molecular structure the resin for pipes with good long-term performance should have. Oxidation resistance was also evaluated by examining the correlation between the oxidation induction time and additives (particularly anti-oxidations), and the results indicated the importance of the amount of particular anti- oxidations and their combination.
