Case studies of plastics pipelines in acid-proof installations

Industrial, chemical and effluent process pipes

Plastic Pipes Conference Association # 1974 Southampton

Schmidt, Kessler

Due to the increasing production of metallurgical products — applicable to innumerable fabrications — suitable plant for the removal of the scale adhering to hot rolled goods thus became necessary in order to produce a surface rendering possible a further treatment of the pre-material.

A new phase of development in the field of construction of pickling plant for

  • strips
  • pipes
  • wires, etc.

thus started about 30 years ago.

The high qualities demanded for by the customers and the production increases necessary to meet the demand on the market required a complete redesign of the existing simple pickling plant. It was found in this phase of development that media such as hydrochloric acid, sulphuric acid and nitric acid, heated up to 90— 100°C accelerate the pickling process considerably.
