There is now considerable pressure on pipe producers to improve efficiency and to automate to meet the ecconomic pressures that have increased over the past eighteen months. It essential that to meet the twin demands of holding manufacturing minimums, and reducing manpower on line measuring and control is essential. The author seeks to report on the systems installed since 1981 and the influence this could have on future standards.
