The Structural Requirements of Plastic Gravity Systems

Plastics Pipes Underground # 1970 Southampton

Some years ago the Building Research Station published N. R. S. 32 (1) relating to the design of underground sewer pipelines where rigid pipes are to be used. The mriterls intention is to produce a complementary document for the guidance of designing engineers in respect of plastics pipes for use as underground gravity sewers.

I was privileged to present papers on the structural design of PVC sewers at the earlier Symposiums and again to report progress. UK entry into the Common Market makes it desirable to consider further PVC sewer laying practice and the results of experience in Continental European countries. Experience has been...

Design considerations for gravity sewers in PVC

Author(s) : Carter 1972 Southampton

Paper 9 presented at the Symposium in 1970' was an attempt to provide simplified design data for uPVC sewer pipes as had been previously done for rigid (esentially brittle) pipes by the Building Research Station2> 3. The calculations were made in Imperial units and the charts prepared in respect< of inch series...
