The Influence of Additive Levels on PE-Xa Pipe Performance

This article describes the effect of additive, light and high temperature on PE-X pipe’s performance. By additive amount changes, will be have different influence to pipe’s brittleness resistance, bending strength, and aging resistance. As cross-linking agent’s content increasing, bending strength enhanced, but brittleness resistance reduced after illumination; with increasing content of antioxidants, anti-aging performance enhanced, but pressure resistance decreased. In this discourse, we adopted three groups’ illumination experiment, with different formulation pipe, which is: standard pipe, pipe without adding antioxidants and pipe added UV absorbent. As the illumination time extended, we made analysis on pipes’ cross-linking degree, extension strength, vicat softening point and pressure resistance. And found out as the illumination time extended, all the three groups’ pipe cross-linking degree showed a downward trend especially for the pipe without antioxidants declined most significantly; extension strength increased gradually, toughness deteriorated, impact resistance decreased; all three formulations’ pipe showed little change on vicat softening point; pressure resistance in short-term at room temperature did not change significantly, but performance depressed at the condition of water temperature 95 , 22h hydrostatic. The pipe without antioxidants under the test of 35 days’ illumination, 95 temperature, 22h hydrostatic, showed failed result. High-temperature heating experiment is to simulate the site of furnace’s damaging impact on buried pipe, and summarized major factors which could influence PE-Xa pipes’ performance, so as to enhance production control and technical management, as well as help construction industry have a good selection of cost-effective products, make reasonable preservation and standard maintenance, to ensure product’s service life
