Steel reinforced twin wall pipe (SRTWP) is a new generation of corrugated plastic pipes which has a multilayer structure with an omega-shape steel profile indented into a polymer wall whereby these pipes combine the best benefits of plastic and metal solutions – high corrosion, abrasion and chemical resistance, low roughness coefficient, light weight and ease installation together with sufficient stiffness and strength.
The technology of spiral winding of polyethylene and the omega-shaped steel profile allows to produce pipes with inside diameter up to 3000 mm. The omegashape steel profile provides significant increase of pipe stiffness at least up to SN 16 and significantly reducing weight compared with traditional non-plastic pipes made from concrete, cast iron, clay etc. as well as with non-reinforced corrugated plastic pipes.
In spite of its apparent deformable structure, SRTWP has extremely high resistance to ovalisation and enhanced creep performance due to steel reinforcing profiles. The light weight of SRTWP structure provides easy transportation and installation and the presence of inner polyethylene layer allows to connect pipes by fusion joint that also provides easy pipe connection.
Enhanced properties of SRTWP were approved by 10 years of experience and can significantly extend the application of plastic pipes in sewer and other fields.
