A Novel Approach to the Qualification of Non-Metallic Pipe Systems

Author(s) : Gibson, Frost, Stratfold 2004 Milan

This paper discusses the possibilities offered by ramp pressure loading tests to generate data for determining the long term load-bearing characteristics of plastics pipe systems. In addition to ramp pressure loading, procedures are also considered where the pressure is held at a constant value for a period of time,...

The Collapse Mechanics of Polymer and Composite Liners

Author(s) : Gibson, Wu, Frost, Korsunsky 2001 Munich

This paper considers the collapse of liners confined within rigid pipes and recommends design equations top avoid this effect. Two and three-dimensional aspects of the problem are examined. The onset of unstable collapse is well-described by the critical pressure predicted from analytical models and is essentially an...

Continuous Fibre Reinforced Thermoplastic Pipes for Use in the Transport and Distribution

Author(s) : Gibson 1998 Gothenburg

This paper discusses the fabrication and properties of continuous fibre reinforced thermoplastic pipe systems. Such products can be manufactured by various winding processes involving reinforcing fibres or prepreg tape and have the potential to form the basis of a new range of high added value pipe products.
