Plastic Pipes Conference Association # 1992 Eindhoven

Thoresson

The Great Artesian Basin is one of the world's greatest natural resources. Underlaying a large part of the Australian continent, the basin and its water is a necessity to survive in this part of the world. The basin was discovered more than one hundred years ago. The intensive use of the water has over time caused an unstable situation, where the water flow is out of control at many wells, and much water is lost through evaporation. This paper describes the current situation, discusses ongoing rehabilitation programmes and how plastic pipes fit into these.
