Testing and Processing # 1985 York
Notched ring sections of extruded pipe and injection moulded fittings have been tested to induce brittle failure which can be described by LEFM theory. Failure times have been measured at a range of applied stress intensity factors for each material tested at 23~C. The influence of processing, batch/batch variation in a material and pigmentation have been investigated. Comparisons of notched ring test results have been made with 8O~C stress rupture performance.
