Two kinds of comprehensions about the wall thickness of socket fusion fittings from GB/T 28799.3- 2012 have been analyzed in this paper. Socket wall thickness relative to the different value of pipe series of fusion fittings was calculated respectively, and two kinds of simplified calculation have been suggested. The conclusions from the suggested formula and the key points of the structure design mentioned in this paper have been fully verified in laboratory testing and practical application. It will be likely to bring the suggested calculation method into the product standard for improving the quality and applied technology of socket fusion fitting.
Nearly 50 years of plastic pipe product development and design, along with advances in production methods and application of connection technology, socket fusion fittings have been wieldy used in China and throughout the world. Socket fusion fitting systems used heat to form a complete hermetically sealed system, which played an important role in the connection, diverting, branch and variable features, depending on the dimension, structure, properties, and molding process of pipe fittings. According to the National Standard of GB/T 28799.3—2012, the wall thickness and structure of socket fusion fittings were studied in the following, which maybe referenced for relevant professional and technical officers.
