PolyethyIene pipes with their widely prized benefits, such as low weight, high flexibility and high pressure resistance to 16 bar, have become state of the art in dimensions up to d 630 mm (24”). Today, pipelines up to outer diameters of d 2000 mm (80”) or more are getting used frequently within different applications. For a lateral connection to existing and new large pipes and fittings, a complicated procedure was required. With the help of the branch saddle system and electrofusion couplers with active reinforcement installation becomes easier, faster and more economically

Branch saddle instead of tee saves time and money

The application areas are numerous and varied, for example water transport, water treatment as well as industrial process and cooling water systems. Large PE pipes are also utilized in mining, for wastewater transport and in gas production and transport. Creating reliable connections of large-sized pipes is the goal and at the same time the challenge. Butt fusion and electrofusion have proven to be ideal jointing methods for PE pipes. The choice largely depends on the actual conditions, i.e. the amount of space available. For a lateral connection to existing and new large pipes, a complicated procedure with reducing tees was usually required. With the help of a branch saddle set, branch lines can now be realized easier, faster and more economically.
