A water distribution scheme for Washington new town

This paper describes the function and operation of the Water Company and the Washington Development Corporation, gives details of the planned development of the new town, deals briefly with the design of the distribution system and provides details of the Company's mainlaying and servicing departments and their methods of operation. The paper also includes maps to show the location and layout of the new town and provides certain statistical information with regard to mainlaying, servicing and mains failures. It discusses the advantages and disadvantages of the use of plastics pipes in the new town location, elaborates certain general problems and gives details of certain specific occurrences which have caused concern.
