Plastic Pipes Conference Association # 2016 Berlin

HENK MEERMAN

PVC-Oriented is the second generation of PVC-Unplasticized. Molecular orientation of PVC-U pipes results in a strong improvement of the physical and mechanical properties. The new draft European standard for PVCoriented plastic piping systems is based on the ISO 16422 “Pipes and joints made out of oriented unplasticized poly(vinyl)chloride (PVC-O) for the conveyance of water under pressure – Specification’s” . This new draft EN standard is set up as a system standard containing specifications for pipes, fittings and the fitness for purpose of the system.

BSTRACT The European Plastic Pipes and Fittings Association TEPPFA has taken the initiative to prepare a European draft standard based next to ISO 16422 on existing national specifications in France, Spain, United Kingdom and the Netherlands.

The draft EN standard is intended to be used for temperatures to 45°C, working pressures up to 25 bars and for the following applications:

  • Water mains and service buried in the ground;
  • Conveyance of water above ground for both outside and inside buildings;
  • Drainage and sewerage systems under pressure
  • Irrigation under pressure.
