ADVANCED CHEMISTRY IN PE POLYMERISATION ALLOW NEW POSSIBILITIES FOR PE-RT TYPE I RESIN

THE PE-RT TECHNOLOGY HAS EVOLVED SINCE IT HAS FIRST BEEN INVENTED 1982. AN ESTABLISHED TECHNOLOGY FOR HOT AND COLD SANITARY PIPES HAS POSITIONED ITSELF WELL WITHIN OTHER MATERIALS DUE TO THE EASY PROCESSING, HANDLING AND COST EFFICIENT PRODUCTION OF PIPES. RECENT TECHNOLOGY ALLOWS EVEN MORE FLEXIBLE RESINS TO BE PRODUCED IN A LARGE SCALE AND TO BE OFFERED TO THE MARKET. WHILE MEETING THE NECESSARY STANDARDS, PE-RT TYPE I MATERIALS ARE MORE FLEXIBLE THAN EVER BEFORE IN ITS 34 YEARS OF HISTORY.

The use of advanced catalyst technology in the recent years allows combining unique manufacturing technologies for producing PE resins in an advanced way. This allows resins with improved mechanical performance as well improved processing that giving more value and process safety to the converters and the pipe installers. A 10 to 30% improvement in output can be achieved with this resin, resulting directly in higher line speed. This new technology allows the development of the lowest – density resin for MDPE that can be used for PE-RT Type I technology that meets the ISO 9080 standard for hoop stress performance at elevated temperatures. Lifetime for underfloor heating applications can typically be expected to be within the 50 years as stated by the ISO 10508 Standard.

The low density results directly in the highest flexibility for PE-RT Type I resins in the market for underfloor heating pipes. The benefit of the 10 – 20 % higher flexibility compared to other available resins on the market gives the installer an easier handling of the pipe during the installation of the underfloor heating pipes. This can shorten the installing times for a room and gives a more ergonomically working environment.
