GPPA conference in ME, May 28-29th 2013

The event brought together a large number of pipe manufacturers and end users from Qatar including Hussain Mohammed Al Muftah, Director Downstream Business Development and Evaluation at Qatar Petroleum. Robin Bresser, representing the PE100+ Association, presented the findings of our European study on the Life Cycle Assessment and Environmental Product Declaration of large (400mm) pipe water mains systems.

This presentation fitted well with the talk given by Abdelfattah Bensamoud of Georg Fischer on the project sponsored by the European Plastic Pipe and Fittings Association (TEPPFA) for smaller diameter water mains (110 mm). These two projects show that for water mains up to 400mm in diameter, PE100 has a lower environmental impact than the equivalent size of ductile iron pipe.
